Critter's Gonna Critter plays the Biloxi circuit

Critter's Gonna Critter, a four-piece out of Mobile, Alabama, played a show at an outdoor venue in Biloxi last Saturday that this reviewer attended due to a scheduling confusion and stayed for due to the bass playing.

The band's music is slow, heavy, and warm in the way that the Gulf Coast is warm — not aggressively, but persistently, in a way that outlasts your resistance. The songs are long. The bass is very good. The guitar fills are precise in a way that rewards attention.

There was an incident with a raccoon after the set that this reviewer witnessed and has decided not to report on, as the context would require more space than this column allows and the band's response to it was, this reviewer believes, a private matter.

Critter's Gonna Critter plays the Pensacola circuit next month.

Slow, heavy, and warm in the way the Gulf Coast is warm — persistently, in a way that outlasts your resistance.

Correction

Last week’s tide table gave Saturday’s high at Mobile Bay as 2.9 feet. It was 1.9 feet. We regret the extra foot.

You Know Why

Two Stinky Fingers have a fourth record coming out of Apalachicola. It is called You Know Why. We asked what it refers to. We were told we know why. — N. S.

Heights in feet above mean lower low water. All times Central. One high and one low most days; Galveston and Corpus Christi sometimes get two. A hard north wind will hold the water out a half foot or more. A south wind will push it back in. These are predictions, not promises.

Specks are holding at Cat Island and in the Biloxi marsh on the falling tide. Flounder are light so far. Redfish are tailing on the Chandeleurs for anyone with the boat and the patience. Sharks are under the piers, as they always are in August, and they are to be respected.

Boil of the Week

No public boil this week that we know of. If you are having one, call Tina by Friday noon and we will put it in.

There was an outdoor show in a parking lot in Biloxi Saturday night. Was anybody from your paper there? Something happened with an animal.

— J. R., Biloxi

Yes. See “Local Acts,” this issue. We have said what we are going to say. — Ed.
